An oil & grease trap separates floating oil, fat and grease from wastewater before it enters the drainage line or treatment plant. Wastewater flows slowly through baffled chambers, allowing lighter oil and grease to rise to the surface while heavier solids settle at the bottom. Clear water leaves from the middle of the unit.
Where it is needed
- Commercial kitchens, hotels, restaurants, canteens and food courts
- Food processing, dairy and edible-oil units
- Automobile workshops, service stations and engineering industries
- As the first stage of an STP or ETP
Why it matters
- Prevents choking of drains and sewer lines
- Protects biological treatment in STPs and ETPs from oil overload
- Helps meet discharge norms for oil and grease
Construction options
Oil and grease traps can be supplied in MS, SS or FRP, or built in civil construction, with removable baskets, oil skimmers and easy-access covers for cleaning. Size depends on the flow rate and the nature of the wastewater.
Our engineers will suggest the right size and material for your kitchen or plant, and can include the trap as part of a complete wastewater treatment scheme.
