A sludge dewatering press removes water from the sludge produced in sewage and effluent treatment plants, turning liquid sludge into a cake that is much smaller in volume and easier to handle. Abhay Enviro Engineering supplies screw-type dewatering presses as part of new STPs and ETPs or as an add-on to existing plants.
How a screw press works
- Sludge is mixed with polyelectrolyte in a flocculation tank so that solids form flocs
- A slowly rotating screw moves the flocculated sludge through a drum of fixed and moving rings
- Water drains out through the gaps between the rings while pressure builds up along the screw
- Dewatered sludge cake is discharged at the end and the filtrate returns to the treatment plant
Benefits
- Large reduction in sludge volume and disposal cost
- Low-speed operation with low power use and little noise
- Self-cleaning design — no filter cloth to wash or replace
- Compact, skid-mounted unit with a simple control panel
Applications
STPs and ETPs in engineering, food processing, dairy, textile, paper and chemical industries, as well as townships and municipal plants.
Capacity is selected on the daily sludge quantity and its solids content. Share your plant details and our engineers will recommend a suitable model.
