An ozonation system uses ozone (O3), a strong oxidising agent, to disinfect and treat water. Ozone is generated on site from air or oxygen and mixed into the water, where it destroys bacteria and viruses and oxidises colour, odour and many dissolved contaminants. It then breaks down back into oxygen.
Applications
- Disinfection of drinking and process water
- Tertiary treatment of treated sewage before reuse
- Colour and COD reduction in textile and other industrial effluent
- Cooling tower water treatment and swimming pools
- Iron, manganese and odour removal
System components
A typical system includes an air preparation unit or oxygen concentrator, ozone generator, injector or diffuser, contact tank, off-gas destructor and a control panel with safety interlocks.
Benefits
- Effective disinfection without chemical storage
- No chlorinated by-products added to the water
- Also improves colour, odour and taste
Abhay Enviro Engineering selects ozone dose and contact time based on your water analysis and flow, and can integrate ozonation into a WTP, STP or ETP scheme.
