SBR (Sequencing Batch Reactor) is an activated-sludge process in which treatment happens in timed batches inside the same tank. Each cycle runs through fill, aeration (react), settle, decant and idle stages, so a separate secondary clarifier is not required. Abhay Enviro Engineering designs SBR plants for sewage and biodegradable industrial effluent.
The SBR cycle
- Fill – raw wastewater enters the reactor
- React – air is supplied and bacteria break down the organic load
- Settle – aeration stops and sludge settles to the bottom
- Decant – clear treated water is drawn off from the top
- Idle – excess sludge is removed before the next cycle
Applications
- Sewage treatment for townships, municipalities, hotels and institutions
- Industrial effluent with varying flow and load through the day
- Sites that need nutrient (nitrogen and phosphorus) removal
Benefits
- Single tank for aeration and settling saves space
- Cycle times can be adjusted to suit changing load
- PLC-based automatic operation
Our engineers select the number of reactors and cycle times based on your flow pattern, and support the plant with AMC and O&M after commissioning.
