An Ultrafiltration (UF) plant uses hollow-fibre membranes to remove suspended solids, turbidity, colloids, bacteria and most viruses from water. Water passes through very fine membrane pores while particles are held back and flushed away during periodic backwashing. Abhay Enviro Engineering designs UF plants for raw water, process water and treated-wastewater applications.
Where a UF plant is used
- Pre-treatment ahead of an RO plant, to protect RO membranes and reduce fouling
- Polishing of treated sewage or effluent before reuse for gardening, flushing or cooling towers
- Clarification of surface water, borewell water and process water
- Industries such as food & beverage, pharmaceuticals, textiles, hotels and townships
How the system works
A typical UF system includes a feed pump, pre-filter (strainer or multimedia filter), UF membrane modules, backwash pump, chemical cleaning (CIP) arrangement and a treated-water tank. Operation can be manual or PLC-based with automatic backwash cycles.
Benefits
- Consistent filtered-water quality irrespective of raw-water turbidity
- Low chemical use compared with conventional clarification
- Compact, skid-mounted design that needs little floor space
- Longer life for downstream RO membranes
Every UF plant is sized on your raw-water analysis and flow rate. Share your requirement and our engineers will suggest a suitable scheme, along with AMC and operation support after commissioning.
